# Can't find your recipes? You may have a second account
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/help/lost-recipes
If your recipes seem to have disappeared, you've most likely signed in to a different account. Here's how to get back to the right one.
Take a breath — your recipes are safe. When recipes seem to have vanished, they're exactly where you left them. You've just signed in to a *different* account than the one you saved them on.
## Why this happens
Foryoueats lets you sign in four ways: **email and password**, **Google**, **Facebook**, and **Apple**. Your account is identified by its email address.
A second account is only created when the email behind your new sign-in method is **different** from the one you originally used. For example, if you signed up with `you@gmail.com` and password, then later clicked **Continue with Apple** using a Hide My Email address, that's a different email — so it creates a brand-new, empty account. Your recipes stay attached to the original account, so the new one looks empty and it feels like everything is gone.
If the email is the **same**, signing in a different way just finds your existing account — no duplicate is created. Duplicates only happen when the emails differ.
## Get back to your recipes
From the account that looks empty, sign out completely. This clears the way to try a different sign-in method.
Sign in again using the method you first signed up with. If you're not sure which one it was, try each in turn:
Sign in with your email address and password.
Use your Google account.
Use your Facebook account.
Use your Apple ID.
Once you're signed in, look for your recipe library. If it's there — you've found your original account.
If you signed up with email and password, you can confirm that account exists by using **Forgot password** on the sign-in page: if a reset email arrives, that account is real and your recipes are waiting on it.
Going forward, make sure each sign-in method uses the **same email address**. Signing in with a method tied to a different email is what creates a second account — so when in doubt, use the same method you signed up with.
## Still can't find them?
If you've tried every sign-in method and still can't see your recipes, get in touch — the team can help locate the right account.
Email [support@foryoueats.com](mailto:support@foryoueats.com) and we'll help you track down your recipes.

# Bulk Import Recipes from Another App
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/bulk-import
Move your recipe library from Cookbook, Plan To Eat, Copy Me That, Paprika, or Recipe Keeper into Foryoueats by exporting from your old app and uploading the file.
If you're switching to Foryoueats from another recipe manager, you don't have to start from scratch. Export your recipes from your current app and upload the file to bring your entire library over at once.
Bulk import preserves your recipe content, including ingredients, steps, and (where supported) images.
## Supported apps
Cookbook exports recipes as a ZIP file of YAML files.
In Cookbook, go to **Settings → Backup / Export** and tap **Backup / export recipes**. Select **YAML files** as the format and tap **Backup**. This will produce a ZIP file.
In Foryoueats, click your profile icon in the top right and select **Bulk Import/Export Recipes**. Select your app, click **Choose file**, select your ZIP, and click **Import**.
Open **My Recipes** after the import completes to confirm your recipes came through correctly.
Plan To Eat lets you export your recipes as a CSV file.
In Plan To Eat, go to **My Account** and scroll down to **Export My Recipes**. Click **Download csv file (spreadsheet)**.
In Foryoueats, click your profile icon in the top right and select **Bulk Import/Export Recipes**. Select your app, click **Choose file**, select your CSV, and click **Import**.
Once the import finishes, open **My Recipes** to see your imported library. Check a few recipes to confirm ingredients and steps came through correctly.
Copy Me That exports recipes as a ZIP file that includes your recipe images.
In Copy Me That, go to **Download recipes** and select **HTML (Single .html file plus images)** as the file format. This will produce a ZIP file.
In Foryoueats, click your profile icon in the top right and select **Bulk Import/Export Recipes**. Select your app, click **Choose file**, select your ZIP, and click **Import**.
Check **My Recipes** after the import completes to confirm your recipes and images are all present.
Paprika exports recipes in HTML format. You'll need to zip the exported folder before uploading.
In Paprika 3, go to **File → Export Recipes**. Set the format to **HTML** and click **Export**. Paprika will create a folder — zip that folder and upload the ZIP file.
In Foryoueats, click your profile icon in the top right and select **Bulk Import/Export Recipes**. Select your app, click **Choose file**, select your ZIP, and click **Import**.
Open **My Recipes** to confirm your library imported correctly.
Paprika's export is only available on the desktop app (Mac or Windows). If you use Paprika on iOS or Android only, you'll need to install the desktop app to export.
Recipe Keeper exports a proprietary ZIP file from its import/export settings.
In Recipe Keeper, go to **Settings** and click the **Import/Export** tab. Under **Export recipes to**, click **Recipe Keeper .zip file**.
In Foryoueats, click your profile icon in the top right and select **Bulk Import/Export Recipes**. Select your app, click **Choose file**, select your ZIP, and click **Import**.
Check **My Recipes** after the import completes to verify your recipes came through correctly.
## Using a different app?
If your current recipe manager isn't listed above, contact Foryoueats support. The team regularly adds support for new import formats based on user requests.
As a workaround, most recipe apps let you view individual recipes that you can import using [Import from URL](/recipes/import-from-url) or [Create from image](/recipes/create-from-image).
# Cook Mode
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/cook-mode
A focused, distraction-free view for cooking — keeps your screen on and shows ingredients and steps side by side.
Cook Mode gives you a clean, focused view of a recipe while you cook. Your screen stays on automatically so you never have to tap it awake mid-recipe.
## Start Cook Mode
Navigate to any recipe you have access to.
Scroll to the **Steps** section and tap the **Cook Mode** button in the top-right corner of that section.
You'll be taken to the Cook Mode view, where ingredients and steps are shown together. Your screen will stay on for the duration.
Cook Mode is only available to signed-in users.
## What you see in Cook Mode
On desktop, ingredients and steps are stacked one after the other on the same page. On mobile, they're split into two tabs — **Ingredients** and **Steps** — and you can tap or swipe between them.
If you prefer the stacked layout on mobile, you can switch to it in your account settings.
The recipe name and image appear at the top so you always know which recipe you're on.
## Cook multiple recipes at once
You can add more than one recipe to Cook Mode — useful when a meal has multiple components.
Tap **Cook Mode** on the first recipe. You'll land on the Cook Mode page.
Go back and open another recipe, then tap **Cook Mode** again. It's added to your active session without removing the first.
A recipe picker appears at the top of the Cook Mode page. Tap it to switch to any other recipe in your session.
## Finish cooking
When you're done with a recipe, tap **Done Cooking** at the bottom of the page. This removes it from your Cook Mode session.
* If you had multiple recipes, you'll stay in Cook Mode on the next one.
* If it was your last recipe, you'll be taken back to the full recipe page.
You can also tap **Full Recipe** at any time to leave Cook Mode and view the complete recipe page.
## What you can do next
Write your own recipe from scratch to use in Cook Mode
Save a recipe from the web and cook it right away
# Create Cookbooks and Organize Your Recipes
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/cookbooks
Group your saved recipes into cookbooks — for meal planning, special occasions, or any collection you want to keep together.
Cookbooks let you organize recipes from your library into named collections. Create as many as you need and add any saved recipe to one or more of them.
## Create a cookbook
In the app, navigate to **Recipes** and select **Cookbooks**.
Tap the large green **+** button in the bottom right corner.
Enter a name and tap **Create**. Your cookbook is ready to fill.
## Add a recipe to a cookbook
Browse your library or search for the recipe. It must already be saved to your account.
Tap the **three-dot menu (⋯)** on the recipe card.
Tap **Add to Cookbook** and choose the cookbook you want to add it to.
Only recipes saved to your library can be added to a cookbook. If you found a recipe through community search, save it first and then add it to a cookbook.
## Remove a recipe from a cookbook
Removing a recipe from a cookbook does not delete the recipe from your library — it only removes it from that collection.
Tap **Cookbooks** and select the cookbook that contains the recipe.
Tap the **three-dot menu (⋯)** on the recipe you want to remove.
Tap **Remove from Cookbook**.
## What you can do next
Save any recipe from the web into your library so you can add it to a cookbook
Write your own recipe from scratch and organize it into a cookbook
# Create a Recipe from a Photo or Image
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/create-from-image
Upload a photo of any recipe — a cookbook page, handwritten card, or screenshot — and Foryoueats converts it into a structured digital recipe using AI.
You can create recipes from physical sources without typing them out by hand. Foryoueats uses AI to read the image and convert it into a fully structured recipe with named fields for ingredients, steps, and more.
## What you can import
Photograph a page from any cookbook or magazine.
Snap a photo of a recipe card, even if the handwriting isn't perfect.
Upload a screenshot of a recipe from any app or website.
## How to import
In Foryoueats, click **Create Recipe** and select **Create From Image**.
Click **Choose file** and select a photo from your device, or drag and drop the image into the upload area.
Foryoueats processes the image with AI and extracts the recipe details. This usually takes a few seconds.
Check each field — name, ingredients, and steps — to make sure everything was captured correctly.
Make any corrections in the editor, then click **Save** to add the recipe to your library.
For best results, photograph the recipe in good lighting and make sure the text is in focus. Avoid shadows across the page.
AI extraction is accurate but not perfect. Always review the ingredients and steps before cooking from an imported recipe, especially quantities and measurements.
# Create a Recipe Manually in Foryoueats
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/create-manually
Build a recipe from scratch using the full recipe editor. Add ingredients, steps, timing, servings, and choose who can see your recipe.
When you want to enter a recipe yourself — from memory, dictation, or your own creation — the manual editor gives you a full set of fields to build a complete, structured recipe.
## Create recipe from scratch
There are two ways to get started: tap **Create Recipe** from the menu, or tap the green **+** button in the bottom right corner of the Recipes section. Then select **Start From Scratch** to open the recipe editor.
## Fill in the recipe details
Enter a clear, descriptive name in the **Recipe name** field. This is what appears in your library and search results.
Write a short description to remind yourself — or tell others — what makes this recipe worth cooking.
Add each ingredient on its own line. Include the quantity, unit, and ingredient name (for example: *2 cups all-purpose flour*).
Enter each step in order. Keep each step focused on one action to make the recipe easy to follow while cooking.
Fill in **Prep time**, **Cook time**, and **Servings**. Foryoueats displays total time automatically.
Click **Save** to add the recipe to your library.
## Privacy settings
Control who can see your recipes from **Settings → Share**.
| Setting | Who can see your recipes |
| ----------- | --------------------------------------- |
| **Private** | Only you and the Foodie Friends you add |
| **Public** | Everyone |
Your recipes are private unless you switch to public.
# Edit and Delete Recipes in Foryoueats
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/edit-delete
Update an existing recipe's details or remove it from your library. Edit ingredients, steps, tags, and timing, or delete recipes you no longer need.
Recipes in your library aren't set in stone. You can reopen any recipe to fix a typo, adjust ingredients, or add tags — and remove recipes you no longer want to keep. Both options live in the same place: the **ellipses (⋯) menu** at the top right of the recipe image.
## Edit a recipe
Go to the recipe page for the recipe you want to edit.
Tap the ellipses (**⋯**) at the top right of the recipe image to open the recipe options.
Select **Edit** to open the recipe in the editor.
Update any field — name, description, ingredients, steps, timing, servings, or tags. Each field works the same way as when you first created the recipe.
Tap **Save** to update the recipe in your library.
## Delete a recipe
Go to the recipe page for the recipe you want to delete.
Tap the ellipses (**⋯**) at the top right of the recipe image to open the recipe options.
Select **Delete** from the options menu.
Confirm when prompted to remove the recipe from your library.
Deleting a recipe is permanent — it can't be undone. If you might want the recipe later, consider keeping it instead.
## What you can do next
Add tags while editing to keep your library organized and easy to search
Group recipes into named collections for meal planning or special occasions
# Import a Recipe from Any Website URL
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/import-from-url
Paste a URL from any recipe website and Foryoueats saves a clean, structured copy to your account automatically.
Foryoueats can import recipes from virtually any cooking website. Paste the URL, and the app scrapes the page and saves a permanent copy to your account — so you never lose a recipe if the original site goes down or changes.
Open the recipe page in your browser and copy the full URL from the address bar.
In Foryoueats, click **Create Recipe** and select **Import from website URL**.
Paste the URL into the field and click **Import**. Foryoueats fetches the recipe and structures it into your library within seconds.
Check the imported recipe for accuracy, make any edits you want, then click **Save**.
You own your saved copy. Even if the original website removes the recipe or goes offline, your version stays in your account.
## Import while browsing with the Chrome extension
The Foryoueats Chrome extension lets you save recipes with one click without leaving the page you're on.
Install the Foryoueats extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Navigate to any recipe page in Chrome.
Click the Foryoueats icon in your browser toolbar, then click **Import Recipe**. You'll be taken to Foryoueats where you can verify and save the recipe.
Firefox and Safari extensions are coming soon. Until then, use the URL import method on those browsers.
## Troubleshooting
Some websites block scrapers or structure their pages in unusual ways. Try copying the recipe text and using the **Start From Scratch** option instead, or take a screenshot and use **Create From Image**.
Use the recipe editor to clean up any formatting issues after import. Open the recipe page, tap the ellipsis icon in the top right, and select **Edit**.
# Tag and Filter Your Recipes
Source: https://docs.foryoueats.com/recipes/tags
Add tags to your recipes to organize and filter your library — create your own or reuse existing ones.
Tags let you label recipes with anything that's meaningful to you — cuisine type, dietary preference, occasion, cooking method, or whatever helps you find what you're looking for. You can add tags when creating a recipe or any time you edit one.
## Add tags to a recipe
Create a new recipe or open an existing one and tap **Edit**.
Scroll to the **Tags** section in the editor.
Search for an existing tag or type your own, then click **Add**. Your favorite tags also appear as quick-tap chips below the search field — click the **+** on any of them to add it instantly.
You can add up to 10 tags per recipe.
## Filter your library by tag
In **My Recipes**, tap the filter icon in the top right corner to open the filter panel. Select a tag from the **Tags** dropdown and tap **Apply**. The active tag appears as a chip below the page title — tap the chip to deselect it and clear the filter. You can also clear it by opening the filter panel and tapping **Clear**.
## Favorite tags
Favorite tags appear as ready-to-tap options when filtering your library and when editing a recipe — so the tags you use most are always one tap away instead of having to search for them.
To set your favorite tags, go to **Account Settings → Favorite Tags** and add the ones you reach for most often.
## What you can do next
Group recipes into named collections for meal planning or special occasions
Write your own recipe from scratch and tag it right away
