# Create a Recipe Manually in Foryoueats

> Build a recipe from scratch using the full recipe editor. Add ingredients, steps, timing, servings, and choose who can see your recipe.

When you want to enter a recipe yourself — from memory, dictation, or your own creation — the manual editor gives you a full set of fields to build a complete, structured recipe.

## Create recipe from scratch

There are two ways to get started: tap **Create Recipe** from the menu, or tap the green **+** button in the bottom right corner of the Recipes section. Then select **Start From Scratch** to open the recipe editor.

## Fill in the recipe details

    Enter a clear, descriptive name in the **Recipe name** field. This is what appears in your library and search results.

  <Step title="Add a description (optional)">
    Write a short description to remind yourself — or tell others — what makes this recipe worth cooking.

  <Step title="Enter ingredients">
    Add each ingredient on its own line. Include the quantity, unit, and ingredient name (for example: *2 cups all-purpose flour*).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Write the steps">
    Enter each step in order. Keep each step focused on one action to make the recipe easy to follow while cooking.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set timing and servings">
    Fill in **Prep time**, **Cook time**, and **Servings**. Foryoueats displays total time automatically.

  <Step title="Save your recipe">
    Click **Save** to add the recipe to your library.

## Privacy settings

Control who can see your recipes from **Settings → Share**.

| **Private** | Only you and the Foodie Friends you add |
| **Public**  | Everyone                                |

Your recipes are private unless you switch to public.
