Cook Mode gives you a clean, focused view of a recipe while you cook. Your screen stays on automatically so you never have to tap it awake mid-recipe.

Start Cook Mode

1

Open a recipe

Navigate to any recipe you have access to.
2

Tap Cook Mode

Scroll to the Steps section and tap the Cook Mode button in the top-right corner of that section.
3

Start cooking

You’ll be taken to the Cook Mode view, where ingredients and steps are shown together. Your screen will stay on for the duration.
Cook Mode is only available to signed-in users.

What you see in Cook Mode

On desktop, ingredients and steps are stacked one after the other on the same page. On mobile, they’re split into two tabs — Ingredients and Steps — and you can tap or swipe between them. If you prefer the stacked layout on mobile, you can switch to it in your account settings. The recipe name and image appear at the top so you always know which recipe you’re on.

Cook multiple recipes at once

You can add more than one recipe to Cook Mode — useful when a meal has multiple components.
1

Add the first recipe

Tap Cook Mode on the first recipe. You’ll land on the Cook Mode page.
2

Add more recipes

Go back and open another recipe, then tap Cook Mode again. It’s added to your active session without removing the first.
3

Switch between recipes

A recipe picker appears at the top of the Cook Mode page. Tap it to switch to any other recipe in your session.

Finish cooking

When you’re done with a recipe, tap Done Cooking at the bottom of the page. This removes it from your Cook Mode session.
  • If you had multiple recipes, you’ll stay in Cook Mode on the next one.
  • If it was your last recipe, you’ll be taken back to the full recipe page.
You can also tap Full Recipe at any time to leave Cook Mode and view the complete recipe page.
