When you want to enter a recipe yourself — from memory, dictation, or your own creation — the manual editor gives you a full set of fields to build a complete, structured recipe.

Create recipe from scratch

There are two ways to get started: tap Create Recipe from the menu, or tap the green + button in the bottom right corner of the Recipes section. Then select Start From Scratch to open the recipe editor.

Fill in the recipe details

1

Name your recipe

Enter a clear, descriptive name in the Recipe name field. This is what appears in your library and search results.
2

Add a description (optional)

Write a short description to remind yourself — or tell others — what makes this recipe worth cooking.
3

Enter ingredients

Add each ingredient on its own line. Include the quantity, unit, and ingredient name (for example: 2 cups all-purpose flour).
4

Write the steps

Enter each step in order. Keep each step focused on one action to make the recipe easy to follow while cooking.
5

Set timing and servings

Fill in Prep time, Cook time, and Servings. Foryoueats displays total time automatically.
6

Save your recipe

Click Save to add the recipe to your library.
